Introducing Contextual Commenting: Real-Time Collaboration Built Into Every Number

At myPocketCFO, we believe your financial data should do more than just sit on a screen. It should start conversations, trigger insights, and drive decisions, just like a great CFO would.

To support this goal, myPocketCFO has contextual commenting and collaboration. These features are now live across your entire myPocketCFO workspace.

These new features bring founders and their teams into the conversation, right where the numbers live. You can collaborate faster, get aligned sooner, and move forward with clarity.

Why We Built This

We heard you loud and clear: financial clarity often requires discussions, not just dashboards. Whether you're preparing for investor meetings, working on projections, or digging into the details of your business, disconnected experiences slow everything down.

Our goal is to make it easier to collaborate in context. To this end, we redesigned how collaboration works across the myPocketCFO platform from the ground up.

What’s New

Here’s what you’ll find in the new commenting and collaboration experience:

Report-Level Collaboration

You can collaborate in context across every major section of your workspace:

  • Income Statement
  • Balance Sheet
  • Cash Flow
  • Invoices & Bills
  • Transactions
  • Chart of Accounts

Each of these areas now has its own comment space.

Click the Chat button in the top right of any report to open the comment drawer.

Inside, you'll see two tabs:

  • Threads: Ongoing discussions about the report
  • Notes: CPA and CFO observations or working thoughts

Every conversation is neatly categorized as Resolved ✅ or Unresolved [  ], helping you track what’s still pending attention.

Row-Level and Cell-Level Comments

Let’s say you’re reviewing your Cash Flow Statement and have a question about your “Inventory Asset” line for January. No more hunting through emails or writing vague notes.

Now, just click the 💬 icon on that row or cell, and you’ll launch a comment thread pinned to that exact spot.

This means:

  • You can leave detailed questions and assign them to your team
  • Your team knows exactly where to look
  • Everything stays anchored to its context

You’ll even see small visual indicators letting you know where unresolved comments exist, so nothing slips through the cracks.

AI Copilot + Comments = Financial Superpowers

Want a second opinion before looping in your team? Our AI Copilot is accessible throughout the experience.

Click the Copilot button to:

  • Ask clarifying questions like “Why did this expense increase?”
  • Get plain-English definitions of obscure accounting terms
  • Explore trends or changes affecting the report

You’re never more than one click away from insight.

Real-Time Sync + Smart Notifications

We’ve also added subtle (but powerful) improvements under the hood:

  • New comment threads appear at the top, so nothing gets buried
  • Unread indicators show when something needs your input
  • Image and link support makes it easy to share screenshots or resources

How This All Comes Together

The result is a flexible, scalable collaboration system that works the way finance teams operate:

  • You can run an asynchronous financial review and keep everything organized
  • You can resolve questions one-by-one before closing a reporting cycle
  • You can keep a living knowledge base of insights, learnings, and clarifications tied to the exact numbers that inspired them

Try It Today

You’ll find the new commenting experience live now in your myPocketCFO dashboard.

Just look for the 💬 icon on any report tab, row, or cell and start the conversation.

Have feedback? Questions? We’d love to hear from you.
